Magnolia Recreation and Resource Center was founded by Annie Erby in 2015. With a first-hand look as her parents' caregiver, Erby watched both her parents battle incurable illnesses that took their day to day way of life from them. Erby found it heart breaking to see her mother, who was an independent hard-working lady, taking on the fight of her life against Parkinson's. Within five years of her mother's battle, her father was diagnosed with Dementia. He was also a hard-working independent man putting up a strong fight against his illness. Erby's father's life was shortly lived due to other complications. This is what inspired Annie to bring an organization to life that would benefit the community of New Albany and the Union County area of Mississippi.
The baby boomers here in New Albany, MS age 55 and older make up 26% of the growing population which determined the growing need of services and programs that would accommodate the diverse needs for this age group.
Magnolia Recreation and Resource Center was formed with a vision and mission to bring a life of activities specifically designed for senior citizens. These include educational seminars, awareness, health, wellness, nutrition, exercise, and various forms of entertainment. We are a non-profit community organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for citizens throughout Union County.
